Recently, Yukari Miyake appeared on a TV program that was in the first time in a while. I think that she last appeared on TV was a Fuji TV New Year program aired on January 1, 2016.

On 9th Feb. 2019, Yukari Miyake appeared on a Broadcast Satellite program of TV Tokyo together with the Bandmaster Yoshio Higuchi and four other members.

Miyake & Higuchi talked with Shumpootei Koasa, a famous Rakugo-ka (comic stories teller), and Yasuko Ohtani, a violinist. Yukari Miyake sang two songs, ”Umi no Sakimori (Guardians At Sea)” and ”Hamabe no uta (At The Shore)".

"Umi no Sakimori" is a formal piece of MSDF commonly played in ceremonies such as one giving the navy flag to newly built warship (See the video below).

This piece originally was of the Maritime Guard the predecesor of Maritime Self Defense Force. I feel from this song the spirit of them who tried to be noble as the Guardians at Sea despite having only warships and equipments that seem to be much more disturbidsng compared with the Imperial navy or present JMSDF.

For your convenience, I tried to leave provisional translation of the lylic of "Umi no Sakimori (The Guardians at Sea)" as follows.

新たなる光ぞ

雲紅き日の本の、空を富嶽を仰ぎて進む

我らこそ海のさきもり

Arata naru hikari zo

Kumo akaki hinomoto no sora wo fugaku wo aogite susumu

Warera koso Umi no Sakimori

We are now with the new light.
Proceeding looking up at the homeland sky of morning glow and the peak of Mount Fuji the sacred.
It's we who are called the Guardians at Sea.

黒鉄の力ぞ

揺るぎなき心もて、起ちて鍛えて弛まず行かん

我らこそ海のさきもり

Kurogane no chikara zo

Yurugi naki kokoro mote tachite kitaete tayumazu yukan

Warera koso Umi no Sakimori

We are now with the iron power.
With firm mind, standing up, rigorously training our selves up and proceeding constanly.
It's we who are called the Guardians at Sea.

永久の平和ぞ

風清き旗の下、同胞を国土を守らで止まじ

我らこそ海のさきもり

Tokoshie no heiwa zo

Kaze kiyoki hata no moto tomo wo kokudo wo mamorade yamaji

Warera koso Umi no Sakimori

We are now with the hope for eternal peace.
Under the banner waving in the clean winds, we shall guard our sibling and the territories.
It's we who are called the Guardians at Sea.
